Ekameta LCDA donates motorbikes to security outfits to fight crime

…empowers community members, set up committee to facilitate support for primary health facilities

As part of measures to enhance intelligence gathering and security surveillance, the leadership of Ekameta Local Council Development Area LCDA, in Ekiti West Local Government, has donated motorcycles with strong mechanical capacity to some security outfits in the area.

The benefiting security outfits which include, Amotekun, Hunters group, Nigeria Forest and Security Service, Ipole and Erijiyan are expected to make use of the motorcycles to access interiors and hide outs of criminals and respond swiftly to possible distress calls.

Presenting the motorbikes to the representatives of the security outfits, the acting Chairman of Ekameta LCDA, Mr. Ebenezer Adebusuyi said the initiative was out of the zeal to ensure a zero crime society.

According to him, no society can record any meaningful growth and development in an atmosphere of insecurity, hence the need for the step with a promise to do more as soon as the council’s resources improves.

He appealed to the security outfits to utilize the motorcycles for the purpose they were meant for so as to encourage the council to do more.

Appalled by the state of health facilities in the area, the acting chairman, Mr Adebusi set up a Health Committee to come up with ideas and meet necessary stakeholders to raise support for the rehabilitation of the facilities to enable them deliver optimal service to the people.

In a remark, the Olohan of Erijiyan Ekiti, who spoke on behalf of other Obas of communities that make the LCDA, Oba Adegoroye
Omosebi expressed happiness over the successes recorded by the LCDA just as he showered encomium on the acting chairman and other executive members.

The monarch urged the gathering to make themselves available for the forthcoming census due to its importance.

Also Speaking, the Chairman, Ekiti West Local Government, Mr Sesan Okere commended the action of the LCDA and urged the security outfits to improve on their surveillance so as to always arrest suspects before they strike.

The representatives of the security outfits appreciated the council for the gesture and promised to improve on their services.

Meanwhile, a cross section of women drawn from across all the 15wards under the LCDA have been empowered by the council with cash gift to support their upkeep.

The women who could not hide their joy showered encomium on the acting Chairman and his cabinet for the thought out gesture.
