ECOWAS to meet over Niger Coup

…as Juntas insists

By Udesinanna Stephen

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) will meet tomorrow in Abuja concerning the coup in Niger Republic.

This was revealed in a media statement by the Directorate of Communication, Abuja Headquarters of the ECOWAS Commission.

This is coming after the 7 days deadline given to the Juntas to step down and after the Senate House failed to approve military action against the Juntas coupled with the no-flight zone in Niger.

Meanwhile, the junta has short the airport in Niamey as Youths in Niger’s capital formed vigilante groups ahead of possible military counter by the country’s neighbors to unseat the junta, the Nations report.
