A foremost pan Ekiti socio-economic group, E-11 has distributed text books donated by its life grand patron, HE Erelu Bisi Fayemi to nine secondary schools selected from the three senatorial districts of the state, as part of its activities to mark the end of the year program of the group.
The group represented by its Vice Chairman, Mrs Yetunde Fosudo, the General Secretary Mr Oska Seyi Aiyeleso and Assist Gen Sec Dr. Omojola Awosusi said the move was to further encourage reading culture and promote academic excellence among students.
Mrs Fosudo said the donation would help to alleviate the pains of parents who could not avoid buying textbooks for their wards, as well as aid effective teaching and learning.
She revealed that the books donated will complement government’s efforts towards the academic advancement of students and also prepare them for both senior and junior WAEC and NECO examinations.
The E-11 Vice Chairman explained that the secondary school students must be encouraged to develop and explore their potentials.
Also, Mr OSKA Aiyeleso, the General Secretary of E-11 Club, said that the gesture was part of the social responsibilities of the group towards the development of education in the state.
He commended various efforts of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to ensure that the number of out of school children are reduced to the barest minimum.
Mr OSKA Aiyeleso encouraged the students to show commitment to their education and avoid all social vices that may derail them from achieving their future dreams.
OSKA noted that the E-11 group which comprises eminent personalities such as some fmr Governors (Adebayo, Oni, Fayemi) and present Gov( Oyebanji) , some fmr Deputy Govs, some fmr and current National Assembly and State Assembly members, some fmr and current State EXCO members, actively engage in advocacy, development projects, and community empowerment initiatives.
He promised that the group will continue to initiate programmes and projects that would engender the socio economic development of the state.
OSKA promised that the distribution of text books to the secondary schools plus other creative activities of the group will continue in the New Year .
The club donated thousands of textbooks worth several millions of naira on this first outing.
The principals of the benefiting schools and students appreciated the gesture and commended the group.
