Drivers Protest Killing of Colleague

Protesters this evening took over fajuyi area of Ado Ekiti over alleged killing of a member of driver’s union at Ifaki Ekiti.

It took the presence of heavy security agents to calm the angry protester who were brandishing charms and other dangerous weapons and chanting songs targeted at revenge.

As at the time of this report fajuyi junction in Ado Ekiti has been blocked while vehicular movement have been diverted to Okesa and Bank road.

Some concerned residents who spoke with radio Nigeria including Mr Tope Akindele, Mr Samson Adewusi and Mrs Margret omolewa said the alleged killing was politically motivated describing such as barbaric.

They appealed to followers of politicians to stop engaging in violence, indiscriminate blood shedding, distruction of lives and properties.

The respondents also called on political gladiators to talk to their followers on the need to maintain peace and tranquility during elections.

As at the time of the report, efforts to speak with Ekiti State Police Command was unsuccessful.
