Don’t Compromise, Experts Caution Union Leaders

…as SSAUTHRIAI organizes training for labour leaders

Union leaders in Ekiti State have been advised to always put the interest of their members above every other gains irrespective of any situation.

This is the thrust of a seminar organized by the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research institutes and Associated institutions, (SSAUTHRIAI), Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti branch for labour leaders.

The seminar which focused on the essence of unionism in this dispensation with the Theme “THE SACRIFIES AND GAIN” was held on Thursday 26th September, 2024 at the College of Nursing Science Hall, Adebayo, Ado Ekiti.

Various resource persons who spoke and veteran Labour Leaders confirmed a decline in the operations of the labour force across the country compared to what was obtainable in some years back.

According to them, some labour leaders lacked the knowledge about unionism, hence they behave irrationally.

In a remark, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor On Labour Matter, Ekiti State
Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi urged labour leaders to shun confrontation but adopt dialogue and subtle means to press home their demands.

Fatomiluyi gave an assurance that Governor Oyebanji as a man of golden heart would continue to give priority to welfare of workers.

Comrade Adeola Bamidele Representing the State Chairman TUC in Ekiti State also explained that if not for the union in Ekiti and Nigeria workers would not have gained benefits that they deserved.

The JNC Chairman, Comrade Ajoloko acknowledged the importance of unionism to the well-being of workers.

He called for unity among the Labour Force at all times.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research institutes and Associated institutions, (SSAUTHRIAI), Comrade Tony Arigbede said the seminar was to interact and brainstorm on contemporary ways of achieving effective unionism.
