By Precious Oham

The Director-General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship in Ekiti State, Famuyiwa Olawunmi has tasked students in the State to imbibe the Omoluabi ethos towards building a greater future and growth of the State.

The D.G, stated this in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday during a sensitization programme at Ado Community High School, in continuation of the bureau’s tour of schools on the need for students to prioritize values orientation.

She said that the sensitization exercise is part of efforts by Governor Biodun Oyebanji to promote the culture of integrity, respect, hard-work, honesty, decency and responsibility among the people of the State.

Olawunmi, who charged the students to prioritize values orientation in their activities, decried the erosion of the core values of truthfulness, self-diligence, integrity, hard-work, and patriotism among the students.

Her words: “We are principled people in Ekiti State. There is no shortcut to success in life. Ekiti is committed to the Omoluabi ethos.

“Don’t join the multitude to do evil. Don’t give concentration to things that will not help your life. There is a need for us to respect our national symbols. If we disrespect our national symbols, we will also experience disrespect.”

The students were taught the various anthems including the South West anthem and interactive sessions.

The event had in attendance the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council, Kayode Babatuyi, S.A Public Enlightenment, Samson Olofe, S.A Civic Orientation, Akinlade Ojo, S.A Citizenship Engagement, Dayo Afolabi, among others.
