The defamation suit filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria Femi Falana and his son Folarin also known as Falz against a blogger, Vincent Otse,VeryDarkMan, has on Thursday being adjourned by a Lagos High Court.
Videos online disclosed moment VeryDarkMan showed up in court for the continuation of the defamatory case against him over his controversial publication.
However, reports stated that the case could not go on as most of the applications and court processes filed by the parties were not seen in the court file yet. As such, the court adjourned the hearing to January 23, 2025.
Recall that the Falana’s had sued VeryDarkMan to claim N500 million each in damages among others over a video he posted on his social media platforms, which alleged that they collected N10 million from Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, to thwart the course of justice.
The Falana’s maintained that the defendant be held liable for defamation because he deliberately published a video and failed to verify the claims and facts contained in it before posting on his media platforms.
Meanwhile, the presiding judge, Justice Matthias Dawodu in his ruling on an exparte application for an order of interim and preemptive remedy presented by the Falanas, held that they have legal rights to be protected from being slandered.
The judge ordered VeryDarkMan to delete the alleged defamatory video made on Sept. 24 against the Falana’s.
VDM was also restrained by the court from further release, publication, or circulation any defamatory videos and comments against SAN Femi Falana and his son on all his social media handles and pages until the hearing of the suit filed.
