Contractor Handling FG Road Project in Ekiti “very” Competent, Professional – NSE Assures

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Ado-Ekiti Branch, has described the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Ado – Ilumoba – Aisegba – Imesi – Ikare road as very competent and professional.

The 17th Chairman of NSE Ado-Ekiti Branch, Engr. Tola Alawode, FNSE, gave the commendation after assessing a part of the project being handled by S&M Construction Nigeria LTD from Aisegba-Ekiti to Ikare spanning 43km.

While recommending the contractor for future projects, the NSE President assured Ekiti people that the rehabilitation is in accordance with approved engineering standards that would guarantee durability and long-term value.

Her words: “We were able to see the two bridges constructed by this company which meets specifications and standards. One is located between Agbado and Imesi and the other one is located between Imesi and the boundary of Ondo State.

“We looked through technically and professionally to the stability of the bridge constructed by the company and we assessed it. I can confirm that it is well constructed and will stand the test of time.

“We further traveled throughout the sections of their road projects. We were able to conclude that the company has done a great job. They have done 100% base and sub-base. They have done almost 80% of the wearing cost.

“The 2/2 culverts at Agbado township was not in their initial plans and they had to add it due to the intensity of the rainfall during the peak time of rainy season to avoid overflow of water to the main road. After Imesi, they will move to the part allocated to them at Aisegba-Ekiti.

“From our professional judgement, we could deduce that after our assessment say that this company has performed really well. We further recommend them to the federal government for the remaining part of the job or any other projects in Ekiti State because this company has equipments as seen in their yard, manpower, and their own quarry. They are very competent.”

On his part, the Project Manager of S&M Construction Nigeria LTD, Engr. Yinka OluwaGbenga assured residents of the state that they will intensify efforts to deliver a project that will stand the test of time.

According to him, they are deploying standardised construction equipments to enhance road lifespan, improve safety and reduce maintenance costs.
