…expresses concerns over delay in implementing new minimum wage
The Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) has called on the Federal Government to immediately set up a committee to discuss consequential adjustments arising from the new national minimum wage of N70,000.
In a letter addressed to the Head of Service of the Federation, Minister of Finance, and Executive Chairman of the Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission, the council demanded action on several pressing issues, including: Constitution of a committee to discuss consequential adjustments; Release of a copy of the New National Minimum Wage Act 2024; Balance payment of N35,000 Wage Award from February 2024; and Full implementation of 35% salary review for Federal Public Servants.
The JNPSNC expressed concerns over the delay in implementing the new minimum wage, citing growing anxiety and mistrust among workers.
“We urge the Federal Government to take immediate action on these demands, as neglecting workers’ welfare should not be taken lightly,” said Comrade Benjamin Anthony, National Chairman of JNPSNC.
The council reiterated its commitment to partnering with the Office of the Head of Service to ensure public servants receive the best welfare packages.
