COMRADE KOLAPO BREAKS 27YEARS JINX, WINS NLC CHAIRMANSHIP SEAT FOR 2ND TERM

…promises robust representation of workers

About twenty nine affiliate unions under the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC have re-elected Comrade Kolapo Olatunde for the second term to pilot the affairs of the union for another four years in Ekiti State.

Since the creation of Ekiti State in the year 1996, no comrade has ruled NLC in the capacity of chairman for two consecutive terms.

Kolapo who emerged unopposed becomes the first in history to attain such feat.

Other executive members elected are Emmuel Oke, vice chairman, Olumide Jegede another vice chairman, Olaide Olubunmo, treasurer, auditor, Adebayo Fashiku, another auditor,Tayo Ayegbusi,ex-Officios Aduke Ayeni and Ekundayo.

Administering the oath of office on the newly executive members, the National President of the NLC, Comrade Joe Ajaero represented by Vice President, Sunday Adeleye charged the Ekiti State NLC leadership to justify the confidence reposed in them by given preference to welfare of workers.

Earlier, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Roseline Davids noted that the candidates contesting for different posts were carefully screened without given undue preference to anyone of them.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde promised to build on his first time achievements and sought for the cooperation of workers.

Comrade Olatunde who appreciated the efforts of governor Oyebanji to ensure workers friendly environment urged him not to relent in such direction.
