
…pledges to serve interest of Ekiti workers

A renowned labour leader, Comrade Olufemi Ajoloko has been re-elected as the Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council in Ekiti State for another four years.
Comrade Ajoloko, who doubles as Chairman of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Ekiti State Council and Joint Health Sector Unions, was re-elected unopposed during the JNC quadrennial delegates conference in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.
Other elected executives include; Comrade Felicia Awe Toyin, Vice Chairman; Comrade Otiloju Kehinde Samson, Secretary; Comrade Falope Bankole, Treasurer; Comrade Aribisala Ayodeji, Assistant Secretary; Comrade Emmanuel Yetunde, Ex Officio 1 and Comrade Olaoluwa Odunayo, Ex Officio 2.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Ajoloko, who pledged to serve the interest and welfare of workers in the State, assured that he won’t let members down in his second term.
According to him, “We are doing fine and we have done it before. Our people believed in us and that is why we have the grace to serve again. We have never let our union and members down and we will still continue in the same vein.
“The achievements we recorded during our first administration is not a joke and this time around, we are hopeful of getting better achievements and more with our people’s governor, who has a listening ear.”
Addressing the gathering, the Senior Special Assistant to Ekiti State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi called on labour leaders to embrace dialogue rather than confrontation in dealing with government.
In an interview, the Chairman, Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ekiti State, Comrade Sola Adigun urged the newly elected executives to form a formidable team geared towards the serving the interest of Ekiti workers.
His words: “Let’s give our best by first of all being united because united we stand, divided we fall. I am expecting them to be united so that we will form a formidable team.
“They shouldn’t allow any agent to use them. Workers unionism is pivotal to workers welfare and whosoever that is not interested in fighting for workers welfare should not step in workers unionism.”
On his part, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ekiti State, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde also congratulated the new executives and urged them to prioritize the welfare of workers in the State.
