The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Ekiti State Branch, has charged human resource professionals to embrace digital transformation and develop the skills needed to remain relevant in the rapidly changing workplace.
This is the focus of the 2026 Annual State Conference of the institute, held at The Gigmof Place, Ado-Ekiti.
The conference, with the theme, “Digital Transformation and the Future of Human Resources Management in the Workplace,” attracted about 100 participants, including CIPM members, senior public servants, human resource practitioners and professionals from various sectors.
Representing the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, the Institute’s Vice President, Mrs. Chidinma Obiejesi, FCIPM, who spoke virtually said the importance of technology can not be overemphasized.
She noted that the ability to combine digital competence with effective people management is critical to organisational growth and performance.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the CIPM Ekiti State Branch, Dr. Oyeyemi Kayode-Ojo, MCIPM, urged HR practitioners to make continuous learning and professional development a priority in the face of rapid technological advancement.
He stressed that professionals could not afford to remain static as technology continues to reshape the workplace and redefine the skills required by organisations.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Conference/Public Lecture Committee, Dr. Lucy Bamisile, ACIPM, said successful digital transformation goes beyond acquiring technology, noting that organisations must also invest in people, leadership, skills development and a supportive organisational culture.
The two lead speakers, the Ekiti State Commissioner for Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Seun Fakuade, and an elected Council Member of CIPM, Mr. Sean Olabode Badiru, MCIPM, provided insights into the changing digital workplace and the implications for human resource management.
A panel session featuring Dr. Francis Ekundayo, Mrs. Yewande Adesua, MCIPM, and Mr. Tiwaloluwa Omope, and moderated by Mrs. Desola Adetayo, ACIPM, further explored the practical implications of digital transformation.
Participants examined issues including digital innovation, smart work systems, technology-driven accountability, internal controls, digital skills and workforce development.
The Head of Service of Ekiti State, Dr. Olufolake Olomojobi, also participated virtually, while no fewer than 10 Permanent Secretaries in the Ekiti State Civil Service attended the conference physically.
The event also attracted four executive committee members of the CIPM Ondo State Branch, led by its Chairman, Mrs. Pamela Elekwuachi, MCIPM, in a demonstration of professional collaboration between the two branches.
