CHILDREN’S DAY: EDFHO TREATS CHILDREN IN EKITI COMMUNITY TO SPECIAL PARTY

A non-governmental organisation, Environmental Development and Family Health Organisation (EDFHO) on Tuesday celebrated the 2025 Children’s Day with the kids in Ile-Ona Community, Aramoko Local Government Area of Ekiti state.

The celebration, under the auspices of Local Right Programme and supported by Actionaid Nigeria, converged over 200 children in the community with the aim of exposing them to the treatment enjoyed by others in urban areas.

Speaking with journalists, the Director General of the Organisation, Sir Olu Ogunrotimi said the purpose of visit was also to enliven the hope of the kids at the grassroot, stressing that their location is not a barrier to changing the world.

Sir Ogunrotimi, represented by the Project’s team lead, Ebenezer Owoseni, emphasized on the need for parents to support their dreams, so that they can outperform their fellows in urban communities.

His words, “We are doing it to celebrate the children, to make them happy, make them realise that they have hope.

“Not all of them have the chance to go to urban areas, that’s why we bring it to the grassroots level to celebrate with them.

“They are the leaders of tomorrow and we need to support them in whatever things they embark on.

“This is what we can do to make them feel among others in the urban”.

The community representative, Sikiru Okunlola hailed EDFHO for bringing hope into the lives of the kids, saying such gesture is a testament of their commitment to grassroots development.

He also used the opportunity to call on the Ekiti State Government to provide good road network for the community, saying the road infrastructure in the town has been in a dilapidated condition for a very long time.

In her health talk, Bunmi Adelabu urged the parents to prioritise balanced diet for their kids, adding that this would enable them to be more agile at home and schools.

Other highlights at the event include talents display by the kids in various forms such as songs, quiz competition, comedy, dance, sports, cultural presentation, riddles, among others, while winners were also awarded with gifts at the end of the competition.
