Bureau of Local Content Partners Ekiti Artisans, Private Sector for Economic Growth

The Director-General, Bureau of Local Content in Ekiti State, Olalekan Ijidale has met with the leadership of Artisans and Private Sector in Ekiti State as part of measure to synergize for the economic growth and development of the state.

According to Ijidale, the meeting was the first of its kind since the creation of the Bureau with the aim of building cordial relationship with all Associations, Contractors, Suppliers, Vendors and Indigenous Firms as tools for the economic growth in the state.

Ijidale applauded the Leadership of both sectors for their unflinching love, loyalty and support shown to Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji led-administration since inception of office.

He noted further that the meeting was borne out of Mr. Governor’s desire to carry all Indigenous firms along in the implementation of government projects so as to check capital flight, create job for youths and boost local businesses.

The DG noted that the office of Bureau of Local Content would carry out Training and Re-training programmes for Artisan and Private Sector to meet up with the quality standard expected of them in handling contracts in the State.

He stated further that contracts will be awarded to indigenous firms that meet up with the Local Content Requirements, and ready to make use of indigenous man power.

He however charged the Leadership of Artisan & Private Sector in the State to cooperate with the Government in registering their Business/Association with Office of Director-General, Ekiti State Bureau of Local Content, as well as Corporate Affairs Commission/Ministry of Trade & Industries, Ekiti State, regulating the hike prices of Commodities/Services among others in order to benefit from the Government.

While responding, Special Assistant to the Governor/ Chairman Artisan, Elder Comrade Fadipe Ebenezer assures that he would coordinate all Associations under the Artisan towards ensuring absolute compliance with Local Content Requirement and all other enabling laws of the State.

Also, the Special Assistant to Governor/ Chairman, Private Sector, Comrade Abiodun Gbenga advised Leadership of all Associations under the Private Sector to go back home and sensitize their members to use quality materials for their production, ensure moderate prices of commodities as well as register with appropriate authority as regards their business operation in the State.
