The Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Ekiti State on Monday witnesses the presence of heavy security agents.
A footage obtained by Roundoffnews shows that about five security vehicles were parked around the office located at Ajilosun area of Ado Ekiti.
Roundoffnews gathered that the drama was not unconnected with the appointment of new chairman of the party.
According to a statement obtained from a PDP Chieftain, Lere Olayinka but signed by the Deputy Chairman, Hon Lanre Omolase, who has been acting as Chairman and State Secretary, Mrs Funmi Ogun, the party has appointed Engr Alaba Agboola, as the substantive Chairman of the party in the State.
However, the statement did not clarify reason for police presence.
In the statement, Engr Agboola, from Ijero Ekiti, would replace the party’s governorship candidate in the last election, Hon Bisi Kolawole, who resigned as the State Chairman to contest the governorship.
The statement reads: “Appointment of Engr Agboola as the substantive State Chairman, was among the resolutions at the State Executive Committee meeting held in Ado Ekiti today.
“Article 47(6) of the Constitution of our great Party, the People’s Democratic Party, provides that: ‘Where a vacancy occurs in any of the offices of the party, the Executive Committee at the appropriate level shall appoint another person from the area or zone where the officer originated from to serve out the tenure of the officer.’
