Bamisile Hails First Lady’s Tour of LGs, Says it ‘ll Boost Women’s Trust in Oyebanji’s Govt

…Urges LG chairmen to enlist traditional rulers in fight against insecurity

A ranking of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has saluted the Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji for touring the 16 Local Governments Areas of the State to interact with women groups and inform them about government’s policies.

The Chairman, House Committee on Delegated Legislation, opined that such deft political moves at the behest of the First Lady, would propel the concept of inclusive governance being projected by Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.

Dr. Oyebanji and other top government political functionaries are presently touring the local governments to meet the women groups to intimate them on the mileage already covered by Governor Oyebanji in the execution of his six-point agenda in the last two years.

Commending the initiative in a statement issued from Abuja, on Thursday, Bamisile said the initiative of the Governor’s wife will further accord women the deserved recognition in politics and governance under the current administration.

Describing the action as timely and of high political value to the All Progressives Congress-led government, Bamisile lauded the governor’s wife for conceiving the programme that will help cement and propagate the idea of participatory democracy in the state .

The representative of the Ekiti South Federal Constituency lI in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, posited that he personally relished how the governor’s wife had been interacting with women to inform them the mileage Governor Oyebanji has covered in his service to the citizens.

“Let me congratulate and commend Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji for deciding to confer with our women, who are also critical stakeholders in the demography of our State in terms of voting patterns.

“The first stage of governance is for the leader to deliver democracy dividends and the second stage is for the people to be adequately informed about this performance and the value addition inherent in such rating. This was exactly what the First Lady was doing and it was quite commendable.

“Modern politics requires us as leaders interacting with the locals and speak with them in the language they understand. This will help to bridge the gap between the government and the citizens for trust and confidence building in the system”, Bamisile stated.

In the area of security, the Federal Lawmaker was enthralled with the directive handed down by Governor Oyebanji to the Council Chairmen to take charge of security in their domains.

Bamisile said such action will help to stem the tide of kidnappings and senseless killings of innocent citizens that were occasionally rearing their ugly heads in some sections of the State.

“However, these council bosses in the discharge of this duty must realise that they can’t do it alone. They must rally the support of their traditional rulers, who knew the appropriate local hunters they can assemble and mobilize to ward off criminals from their domains”.
