
The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ekiti State University chapter, Professor Sola Afolayan has condoled the Chancellor of the University, Dr Tunji Olowolafe over the death of his wife, Gbemisola Olowolafe.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Afolayan described Mrs Olowolafe’s death as unfortunate, stressing that the family does not deserve such tragedy at this critical time.
He noted that it’s shocking to learn that Dr Olowolafe, who has been contributing immensely to the development of the Institution is the one bearing such disaster and prayed God to give him the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
He said, “It’s unfortunate that our amiable Chancellor had to suffer this kind of fate at this very crucial time.
“On behalf of the Union, I’d rather say he should take heart and get consoled by the soothing voice of the Almighty.
“He was positively active during the last year’s Convocation and it is shocking that we are receiving this news as we prepare for another convocation.
“Our union is making moves to reach out to him formally to present our totem of condolences.
“I pray God gives him the strength to weather the reality of the loss of his beloved wife”.
