ASUSS, TUC Greet Ekiti Governor-Elect, Oyebanji Over Election Victory

Call for improved education system, implementation of worker friendly programmes

The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Ekiti State chapter wants the state Governor-Elect Mr Biodun Oyebanji to actualise his vision for the education sector as promised during his campaign.

In a message signed by its Chairman Comrade Sola Adigun and Secretary, Comrade Adeola Augustine, the Union congratulated Mr Oyebanji for emerging winner of the Governorship contest with a landslide victory.

The Union points out that one of the key indicators that any society is ready for development is the priority given to Education, most especially at the secondary school level which is the major bridge between elementary and Tertiary education.

It says secondary teachers in the state are very hopeful that the Governor-Elect would balance the dual issues of infrastructure and teacher Welfare as a major impetus for educational revolution in the state.

ASUSS notes that defeating other parties in 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state attests to the fact that Mr Oyebanji remains the choice of the overwhelming majority of Ekiti people.

The Union prays God to grant the Governor-elect wisdom to provide the required 21st-century leadership for the Ekiti people

Also, the Trade Union Congress, TUC  congratulated the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Biodun Oyebanji with a charge to him to implement workers-friendly programmes.

In a message made available to Newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the Congress, Comrade Sola Adigun and its Secretary, Comrade Yomi Peters noted that the welfare of workers was fundamental to their productivity and the stability of the polity.

The TUC noted that a well-motivated public service would also impact on the private sector and the macro economy generally.

They described the victory of the APC candidate as an overwhelming show of love by the majority of Ekiti people which they please must be guided jealously.

The TUC leadership urged the Governor-elect to be magnanimous in victory and do everything within his Capacity to reconcile the Ekiti people and return the state to its status of homogeneous State.

They however pledged the loyalty of the workforce to the administration.
