APPEAL COURT STOPS REMOVAL OF ALAWO OF AWO-EKITI

By Roundoffnews

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ado-Ekiti has affirmed the appointment of Oba Abdulasees Olaleye, Aladejuyigbe IV, as the lawful Alawo of Awo-Ekiti.

This was communicated in a judgement delivered virtually on Friday, June 3, 2022 by Hon. Justice Theresa Orji-Abadua.

Justice Theresa Orji-Abadua set aside the judgment of the lower court which had earlier ordered the removal of the monarch on the basis that it was statute barred.

Some family members had earlier challenged the appointment of the Royal father in an Ado-Ekiti high court and the High Court in its judgement delivered early last year called for the removal of the Royal Father and recommended process to install new king in the town.

The monarch proceeded to the Court of Appeal to challenge the lower court judgement through his Counsel Malam Yusuf Olaolu Ali SAN and the court ruled in his favour.

Meanwhile, the Royal Father has appealed to everybody in the town regardless of religion affiliation to embrace peace, unity and cooperation with him for the progress of the town.
