Afe Babalola, Olanipekun, Late Fajuyi, others inducted into Ekiti Elders Hall of Fame

In acknowledgement of the professional achievements and philanthropic gesture of some eminent figures in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Council of Elders today inducted the Legal Luminary, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, and 4 others into the Ekiti Elders Hall of Fame.

The notable inductees also include: the Late Military Governor of Old Western Region, Adekunle Fajuyi; the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola; renowned educationist, Professor Olufunke Egunjobi; and Elder Statesman, Chief Deji Fasuan.

Speaking at the Maiden Edition of the induction ceremony in Ado-Ekiti, President of the Ekiti Council of Elders, Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi, noted that, the Ikere-born Legal Icon, Chief Olanipekun, was inducted as a community development champion and a philanthropist for his benevolence and commitment to the development of Ekiti State.

Meanwhile, Professor Oluwasanmi described the inductees as role models, worthy of emulation, adding that, the honour given to them would inspire youths to pursue their ambitions and a life worthy of honour.

Reacting, Olanipekun, represented by the General Manager of New Cruse 92.7 FM, Ikere, charged the older generation to continue to support Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as well as guiding the younger ones.

In addition, while acknowledging the existence of human and capital resources in abundance in Ekiti, Olanipekun appealed to indigenes and residents to avoid using these gifts as tools of balkanization, division and disunity in the State.

However, Governor Oyebanji, represented by Ekiti State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Development, Mrs Peju Babafemi, praised the Ekiti Council of Elders for deeming it fit to honour the inductees, also hailed the inductees for offering different services to Ekiti State, Nigeria and humanity.
