ADOLESCENT EDUCATION: Excitement as AGILE Extend Sensitization to Ido-Ekiti

…as Olori Ilori-Faboro hails Oyebanji, express optimism

As part of activities to sensitize Ekiti residents on the importance of adolescent education and digital empowerment, a group, Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, extended its campaign to Ido-Ekiti community.

The sensitization campaign tagged “Town Hall Meeting with Key Stakeholders in Adolescent Education and Empowerment” held at Ekiti Parapo College, Ido-Ekiti, on Thursday.

The programme had in attendance, stakeholders such as students, artisans, business women and men; market women, youths, principals of secondary schools, teachers, traditional and religious leaders.

According to the Acting Area Education Officer in Ido-Osi LGA, Oguntusi Olaiya, the programme will yield positive result adding that participants are expected to pass the message to members of the society.

“We appreciate the level of turn out of people. The impact will yield a very good result of which they will share it to their colleagues when they get to school. The stakeholders as well send the message with people in the society.”

Speaking with newsmen, wife of Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Olori Ngozi Ilori-Faboro, the Eyesorun of Ido-Ekiti, appreciated the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his wife for the initiative.

She said that the importance of girl education and empowerment cannot be over emphasized noting that it will be impactful to generations to come.

Her words: “It’s a very good project and something that we thank God it’s coming on during the tenure of this new administration. We are very appreciative and glad and we say a big thank you to the First Lady of Ekiti State for this initiative.

“Girl education, girl empowerment is something that is veryimportant in our society, community and in our state. We are grateful that Ekiti State was chosen as one of the six states under this programme.

“The importance of girl education and empowerment cannot be over emphasized. We know that the society needs ladies, girls who are groomed well, who are empowered to succeed in life. Girls and women are the backbone of our society. We strive to succeed, to excel in all areas of our lives and so when children, young girls and boys are empowered, will definitely change their lives.

“We are hoping that with the emphasis on this programme to the students, it will continue and hopefully the programme may not end. It will impact a lot of generations.”

AGILE Resource Speakers took turns to sensitize the participants extensively on topics such as; Life Skills, Digital Skills, Gender Based Violence, Grievance Redress Mechanism among others.
