Ado-Ikare Highway: Bamisile Praises FG for Mobilising Contractors to Site

…urges speedy completion of project

The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, in the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has hailed the federal Ministry of Works for mobilising contractors to site for the reconstruction of dilapidated Ado-Ikare Highway to boost investment in Ekiti and Ondo States.

Bamisile added that the proposal to redesign the road to a dual carriage way will help in traffic decongestion and movements of vehicle from the Southern part of Nigeria to the North and the Federal Capital Territory.

The representative of Gbonyin/Emure/Ekiti East Federal Constituency, gave the commendation, in a statement released through his Media Office in Abuja and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

The lawmaker praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for not backing down in his efforts to attract federal presence to Ekiti through constant rapprochments with the Ministry of Works and other pivotal agencies.

Bamisile said the governor’s unrelenting efforts facilitated the award of the project for reconstruction, saying speedy completion of the road that is regarded the busiest in Ekiti will boost investment and business activities in Ekiti and Ondo States.

Bamisile considered it a cheery news that contractor has begun work on the road, saying this will relieve his constituents in Gbonyin Local Government of the heavy burdens of kidnapping and difficulty in transporting their farm products to market centres.

“I know that Governor Oyebanji was making efforts and this reflected in his recent and constant visits to federal government agencies to attract federal government projects to our dear state. This is one of the positive outcomes of his historic visits.

“We have had cases of auto crashes, kidnappings and killings on this road. My constituents in Gbonyin had groaned and badly affected, but the relief has eventually come. I appreciate President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi for keeping faith with Ekiti people.

“This road connects the Southwest to the Northern part of the country and the FCT, so its speedy completion will be beneficial through North-South business transactions that can elevate the economy.

“I appeal to the federal government to expedite action on this reconstruction that I believe will add value to economic growth of our nation and our dear Ekiti state when the project is completed”.

Bamisile appealed to the FG to keep tab on the contractors and ensure that the job is done to specification.
