ADC EKITI CONDEMNS ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF STATE SECRETARIAT BY FORMER CHAIRMAN, ACCOMPLICES

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ekiti State Chapter has strongly condemned the illegal entry and forceful occupation of the State Party Secretariat by the former Chairman, Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo, and some suspected hoodlums parading as party officials.

In a statement by its publicity secretary, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan, the party described the action as criminal, unlawful and an act of brigandage.

“It is not only an affront to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but also a gross violation of the Constitution of our great party, the ADC,” the statement said.

For the record, Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo was among the former State Chairmen whose tenure expired on May 13, 2026.

He is also among those who dragged the party to court, a matter that is still pending before the Supreme Court.

The ADC noted that the State Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti is the property of the African Democratic Congress, duly registered and recognized under the current State Executive Committee.

“No individual, regardless of past position, has the right to forcefully gain entry or take possession of party property outside due process,” the party stated.

According to the ADC, the act is aimed at causing confusion, breaching the peace, and derailing the ongoing reorganization and mobilization efforts of the party ahead of future elections.

“The party will not allow a few disgruntled elements to hold our members and institution to ransom,” it added.

The party said it has formally notified all security agencies in Ekiti State, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services*, to immediately intervene, restore order, and bring Hon. Ilesanmi and his accomplices to book in accordance with the law.

The ADC also called on the former Chairman and his cohorts to vacate the State Party Secretariat premises immediately or face the full consequences of their illegal actions.
“The party will take all necessary steps to protect its property and integrity,” the statement warned.

The party assured all faithful and loyal members in Ekiti State that the ADC remains united, peaceful, and focused on providing a credible alternative to the people of Ekiti.

“The ADC in Ekiti State is built on the principles of law, order, and internal democracy. We will not allow impunity to thrive within our ranks,” the statement added.

The party urged its members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding as it works with relevant authorities to resolve the matter.
