BY Samuel Sunday

The Ado Community High School (ACHS) Old Students Association, 1998 Set, reunited in Ado-Ekiti to celebrate their contributions, honour past leaders, and inaugurate a new executive committed to advancing school development.

The alumni showcase their achievements, including the construction of four toilet units to boost sanitation and the donation of 1,500 customised exercise books to support students’ learning. These initiatives reflect the association’s commitment to improving the school environment and easing the academic burden on students.

Outgoing chairman, Engr. Comrade Prince Adeyeye Kehinde Adeniyi, praised members for their unity and dedication, noting that teamwork enabled the successful completion of multiple projects despite limited funds. He urged alumni to continue supporting the association’s initiatives.

Adeniyi also clarified that the four-toilet project, built during the tenure of pioneer chairman Comrade Ogudumoye-Alaba Henry, had not been formally commissioned. The association is coordinating with school management to ensure official recognition soon.

The event recognized leaders who contributed to the association’s success. Engr. Adeniyi and the pioneer chairman received awards for their service, while fifteen other members, including Comrade Prophet Sunday Obaidu Eyebiokin, Comrade Makanjuola Wole, and Comrade Ebunola Odeyemi, were honoured for their commitment.

Principal Pastor Olurotimi Emmanuel Olaoluwa commended the alumni for their support and confirmed their contributions. He also praised the association for sponsoring a female student who represented Ekiti State at a national competition, covering her JAMB registration fee as a gesture promoting academic excellence.

Elections produced Mr. Bayowa Thomas as the new chairman, with Oluwadare temidayo as PRO,  Adebayo Azeez as General Secretary, Mr. Adedeji Funmilayo, and Mr. Ayodeji as Assistant General Secretary. Thomas pledged to expand the association’s impact through new projects and initiatives, including the formation of a 12-man financial committee.

The reunion concluded with awards, a dinner party, and a vote of thanks from the General Secretary. Members left the event inspired to continue supporting Ado Community High School and ensure the sustainability of the association’s development efforts.
