The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has revealed that it would be publishing the personal particulars of candidates in the State’s Headquarters and Local Government Offices in three states including; Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa on Friday 12th May, 2023.
This was revealed today through a press statement signed by the National Commissioner of Information and Voters Education Committee, Barr. Festus Okoye via the Commission’s Official Twitter Account @inecnigeria.
According to the release, the essence of the publication is to ensure credible and free elections in the concerned states.
It states, “The Commission shall publish the personal particulars of the candidates in the State Headquarters and Local Government Offices in the three States tomorrow, Friday 12th May, 2023.
“We appeal to Nigerians to scrutinize the list . In particular any aspirant who participated in his or her party’s primaries with reasonable grounds to believe that the information provided by the candidate is false can challenge the nomination at the Federal High Court as provided in section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.”
