Ekweremadu jail term in UK an assault on Nigeria’s status says Adamu Garba

By Udesinanna Stephen

Former Presidential aspirant and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adamu Garba has said Senator Ike Ekweremadu serving a jail term in a foreign country is an assault on Nigeria’s status in the international sphere.

Garba said this today via his Twitter handle @adamugarba while frowning at Nigeria’s silence on the Ekweremadu case.

In his words, “I see this as an assault on our sovereignty, laws, and the status of our statehood in the international sphere.”

This is coming after the recent happening where Senator Ekweremadu and his wife Mrs. Ekweremadu were found guilty of organ trafficking in the United Kingdom following claims that they intended to replace their daughter’s damaged Kidney with another individual who was unaware of the situation and was flown to the UK along the Senator and his wife.

Garba said “If not for the weakness of our system and stenches of colonialism, how can a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu serve a jail term in the foreign land?
Would America, the UK, or any European country allow that?”

According to him, no matter the offense, Ekweremadu deserves to be repatriated back to Nigeria to face Nigeria court and be sanctioned by Nigerian law.
