Stay off Corruption, ICPC Chair Tells Heads of Public Agencies

By Udesinanna Stephen

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, has charged heads of public Agencies to stay off corruption saying that the commission is working on programmes that halt corrupt behaviours.

As obtained from ICPC web page, the Chairman gave this charge during a two-day anti-corruption training for norm and behaviour change organised for Chief Executive Officers of public agencies by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN), the training arm of the ICPC.

According to the Chairman, the commission had been collaborating with stakeholders and other partners like MacArthur Foundation to design programmes for behavioural change.

He added that globally, the law and order approach alone has been discovered not to be enough to lead to social transformation and cure issues of corruption.

Also, the ICPC Boss said the roles and responsibility of a public servant is critical in giving out information on activities of their place of work to diminish corruption in the system.
