AVOID SEEKING UNGODLY ALTERNATIVES, BISHOP AJAYI CHARGES XTIANS

By Bayo Famoroti

The Bishop of the diocese of Ekiti, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Revd. Andrew Olusola Ajayi, has advised Christians to avoid seeking ungodly alternatives while facing the storms of life.

He gave the advice in the Bishop’s charge delivered at the 3rd Session of the Nineteen Synod, hosted by Ise, Oraye and Erinwa Archdeaconries, Ise Ekiti, with “Peace, Be Still” as its Theme.

The bishop waned that when people seek ungodly means they are either saying God is not all powerful or are not children of God and called for repentance.

“If you seek diabolical powers to address a storm, you will still pay heavily for it and still regret it. Note that when the devil gives you a cap, he will request for your head and still demand appreciation from you. Refuse to go the way of the devil; but choose to go the way of the Lord”, he admonished.

Bishop Ajayi said: “As children of God, we have confidence built not in self but in Christ. In Him alone is our hope built. There is no situation, no obstacle and no threat that can overcome us because we have a God who never fails. We are not to look at current situations in the nation but the factual realities in His word.

“Therefore, we must build up our faith to a level that nothing moves us as we keep our total focus on Christ; this will not happen if we are only Christians who affirm His promises without consistency in the place of prayer”.

According to him, the word of God contains unchanging promises for our lives especially in the face of storming situation and we have to affirm them always to show our confidence is rooted in Him and His word.
