Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, a member of the 9th National Assembly representing Cross River North has said zoning of the Senate President is unimportant but the best person for the job.
The Senator, who said this in an interactive session with ARISE NEWS, noted that the country needs a Senate president who has the best interest of Nigerians at heart.
His position is coming following permutations by some individual politicians voicing for zoning, particularly, former Senate leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, who said that the Senate President should be a Christian from the South-East, while A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state, Cletus Obun, has that, the Senate presidency should be zoned to the South-South.
Jarigbe said “I think that we should choose the best out of the many that will come out… I think that, as senators, we should be allowed to choose who will be the senate president,” saying that the best candidate could come from any zone or religion, despite the call for equity and balance.”
