The All Progressives Congress (APC), has asked the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja to dismiss the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to nullify the emergence of President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Meanwhile, APC has legally challenged the validity of Peter Obi as a Labour Party, LP candidate.
The Director Media and Publicity, APC, Presidential Campaign, Bayo Onanuga revealed on his Twitter handle, @aonanuga1956 that “APC lawyers contend Obi was not a member of LP, according to the Electoral Act, as at the time of his alleged sponsorship.”
While the Premium times reported that, the APC which stands as 4th respondent urged PEPC to reject Obi’s petition based on preliminary objection marked: CA/PEPC/03/2023 and filed at PEPC’s Secretariat, on Monday by Thomas Ojo, a member of the party’s legal team led by Lateef Fagbemi in Abuja.
The party asked the tribunal to dismiss the petition with substantial cost on the grounds that it lacked merit and was frivolous.
