Ekiti TUC Congratulates Governor Oyebanji over Supreme Court Judgement; tasks National Assembly members to serve diligently

The Trade Union Congress, TUC has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji over the Supreme Court judgment that reaffirm him as the validly elected Governor of Ekiti State in the last governorship election.

In a statement by the Ekiti State Chairman of the TUC, Comrade Sola Adigun, the Union also commended the SDP candidate, Engineer Segun for following the part of democratic civility by exploring his legal rights up to the Apex Court, rather than resulting to self-help and overheating the polity with divisive comments.

The TUC described the judgment of the Supreme Court as an affirmation of the mandate of the majority of Ekiti voters, wilfully given to Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, which has clearly manifested in his acceptance and performance since he assumed office in October last year.

The Union charged the Governor to further consolidate on persuading his closest challenger and other stakeholders in the opposition by convincing them with his actions that the development of Ekiti is a duty of all, not only for parties in government.

Similarly, the Trade Union Congress challenged all elected representatives of Ekiti people, particularly those at the National Assembly to justify the purpose of their elections, by playing the right politics with sincerity to attract increased federall presence to Ekiti State.

The Workers Union noted with dismay that for almost thirty years since its creation, Ekiti does not have a Federal Secretariat among other critical federal infrastructure.

The TUC maintained that workers in Ekiti State had resolved to monitor the activities of all elected and appointed representatives of the state in the interest of the people to put an end to the hitherto poor performance and shortchanging of the people.
