By Udesinanna Stephen

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has debunked allegations of telephone tracking and leakage made against it by some individuals and groups in the social and mainstream media.

This is coming following the alleged audio where the Labour Party, LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi in a phone call with the General Overseer Living Faith church, Bishop, Oyedepo David, Obi described the 2023 Presidential election as a religious war.

In line with the above, some Nigerian has taken to their social media handle to alleged that NCC leaked and tracked the phone call.

The Commission debunked the allegation today in a press statement signed by the Director, Public Affairs NCC, Reuben Muoka.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Commission denies these allegations and advises the public to disregard them”.

Mouka noted that, “the provisions of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003 and other extant Laws of the Federation, the Commission does not and cannot ‘track’ nor ‘leak’ telephone conversations of anyone.”

According to him, the Commission has reported the allegations to relevant security agencies for investigations and necessary action.
