NICE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO NSE, COREN PRESIDENTS.

…seeks collaboration to end incessant building collapse, quackery

The National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers NICE, Engineer. V.C Ezugu, FNSE, FNICE has led delegation of some Excos and Members of the Institution to pay a Courtesy visit on the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil,FNSE and to the President of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

During the visit to NSE President, the National Chairman Engr. V. C Ezugu thanked the President for giving him the opportunity to pay him the courtesy visit.

He noted that the visit was his first courtesy call as the National Chairman of NICE, reasons being that NSE as the mother body of the Institution, saying it will be noteworthy to come to appreciate the President for his support towards the success of his Inauguration.

He further stated that the visit was also necessary to inform the President of his 4-Cardinal points of development for the Institution which comprised Growths of the Institution, Continuous Development and Welfare of Members, Collaboration with relevant Organisations and Physical development.

He also used the opportunity of the visit to discuss possible ways of collaboration between the Institution and NSE especially on how to mitigate the issues of incessant Building and infrastructure Collapse in the country and usage of quacks, Domestication of EuroCode and production of other Civil Engineering Codes and standard.

In his response the President of NSE, Engineer Tasiu Sa’ad Gidari-Wudil,FNSE welcomed the delegation to his office and congratulated the National Chairman on his successful inauguration as the 18th National Chairman of the Institution, wishing him great feats in his tenure.

He appreciated the Institution for the role it has played as Division of NSE.

Engineer Gidari_wudil stated that the Institution is the First NSE Division to support the Society with Air Conditioners and UPSs and encouraged the National Chairman to intensify actions in the area of Professional Development and Production of Civil Engineering Codes and standards with a promise to support the Institution at all times.

In another development, the National Chairman, Engineer. V.C Ezugu,FNSE,FNICE led NICE delegation to visit COREN President, Engr. A.A Rabiu,FNSE,FNICE,MFR at COREN Headquaters, Abuja.

During the visit, he appreciated COREN President for finding out time to receive the delegation.

He noted that the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the President for attending his Inauguration in Port Harcourt and also inform him of his agenda for the Institution and sort for areas of collaboration between the Institution and COREN especially in the area of Professional Development and tackling of Building Collapse and quackery in Engineering sector.

The National Chairman also urged COREN to involve the Institution in its Engineering Regulations and monitoring especially as relating to Civil Infrastructural projects.

Reacting, the COREN President welcomed the NICE delegation to his office, he congratulated the National Chairman on his Inauguration and prayed for a successful tenure.

He promised to support the administration of the NICE National Chairman and always involve the Institution in all its activities.

The NICE Delegation included, National Vice Chairman-Engr. Sharafadeen Olumoh,FNSE,FNICE, Ag ES.- Engr. Boaz T. David,FNSE,FNICE, Engr. Mrs. Mada Abbas, Engr. Solomon Oluwasegun and some secretariat staff of the Insitution.
