NSCDC nabs suspected kidnappers in Ekiti

The CTU Unit of Ekiti Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has succeeded in arresting four suspected kidnappers for an alleged disappearance of three persons.

This was contained in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Afolabi Apetuje.

Apetuje said that the suspects conspired and kidnapped the victim along Omisanjana Area in Ado-Ekiti after a brawl with Oluwafemi Tiwatope, who has been threatening the victim because of an alleged failed business.

“The suspects Oluwafemi Tiwatope 23 years and Olorunfemi Bola 25 years and others at large conspired and kidnapped the victim along Omisanjana Area in Ado Ekiti after a brawl with Oluwafemi Tiwatope who has been threatening the victim because of an alleged failed business.

“Parading the suspects, the State Commandant Mr John Olatunde Fayemi frowned at the rate of breach of peace in Ado Ekiti where he stated that cultism in Ado metropolis is taking a new dimension and the Command will not fold its arms and allow the immoral act to degenerate into chaotic situation whereby our people will not be able to sleep with their two eyes closed.

“The suspects have confessed to be members of Eye Confraternity disturbing Omisanjana and Matthew Street in Ado Ekiti where they launched several attacks on innocent people, kidnapping, raping and duping them before the long hand of the Counter Terrorism Unit of the Command caught them in the act

“Before the arrest, the Unit has been inundated with complains from that axis, that some groups of cultist were operating daily around the area which called for an immediate investigation by the CTU to curtail the activities of this cultist groups. During the operations which lasted for about twenty minutes, the kidnappers exchanged gun fire with the operative of the CTU which called for a repel from the Unit’s operative and in the process, two people were hit by bullets and they are currently receiving treatment at a government hospital.

“The Commandant who was shocked with the way our youths are wasting their days urged parents to monitor their children and challenge them when they are not satisfied with their behaviors so as allow our society to be in peace. The suspect will be charged to court after a preliminary investigation has been concluded by the Unit.”
