By Precious Oham

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Ekiti State has organised a New Year prayer to commit 2023 into the hands of God.

The interdenominational prayer session which had in attendance members drawn from the various labour groups in the state, held at the Labour House in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.

Speaking at the event, NLC Chairman in Ekiti State, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde, said he was spurred by the New Year prayer organised by the state government and the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti adding that it is imperative to return all Glory to God.

“We must return all Glory to God for keeping us to be among the living. I was somewhere not a while ago and I observed how New Year prayers is put in place by the government of Ekiti State and I was surprised.

“I was privileged to be in the palace of Ewi, a New Year programme was put in place and at the end of the programme, the Kabiyesi was called upon to address the congregants. I couldn’t believe what my eyes saw. I was motivated from that particular point that there is need to come together and hand over ourselves unto God.”

He equally urged the Ekiti State government to prioritise the welfare of workers in the state noting that the union has been meeting with the state government to ensure adequate payments of salaries and pensioners gratuities.

The representative of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Mrs Kemisola Oyegbusi, said she will inform the governor of the demands of the union. The event also had in attendance the Head of Service, represented by Mrs. Tola Faseluka.
