… highlights effects of bad roads to economy
The new executive members that will steer the affairs of Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, NICE for the next two years have been sworn in.
Performing the swearing-in in Ado Ekiti during a Dinner and Investiture Ceremony of new Executive Committee Members of the Institution, the National Chairman of NICE, Dr Chuhwak Tanko urged the new executive members to justify the confidence reposed in them by given priority to welfare of members and operate open door policy.
He also used the forum to call on Ekiti State government to carry members of the Institution along in construction works in order to get quality jobs.
Delivering a lecture on the Socioeconomic Effects of Road Failures”, Engineer Tope Fatukasi explained that bad road would lead to annual loss of money, reduce link between rural and urban areas, increased travel time, affect industrialization, lead to hike in the price of goods and services among other negative effects.
In his acceptance speech, the newly sworned in Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, Ekiti State Chapter, Engineer Ayodele Ayegbusi noted that he would do his best to ensure that the Institution retain her place of pride and sought for the support of members to achieve success.
Members of the executive of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers Ekiti State Chapter are Engr. Adetayo Ogundare, Vice Chairman, Engr. Samuel Ogundare, General Secretary, Mr Olayinka Moses, PRO, Financial secretary, Engr. Esther Adejuwon.
Others are Engr. Olofintuyi Ilesanmi, Assistant General Secretary, Engr. Aderinola Ogunrinola, Technical Secretary, Engr. Omotola Kehinde, Treasurer and Mr Kolawole Olaleye, Ex-Officio.
