FUOYE matriculates 7433 students

…to admit medicine students in 2022/23 academic session

Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), on Friday, matriculated 7433 new students into eleven faculties of the Ivory Tower amidst pomp and pegeantry.

It was the 11th matriculation ceremony of the institution which was organised by the University Ceremonial Committee chaired by Prof. Tajudeen Opoola and which comprises deans of the faculties, as well as other officials of the University.

The excited new students were in high spirit as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomii Sunday Fasina, addressed them, charging them to give no room to redundancy as the University new calendar has been fashioned to be loaded and congested so as to cover lost grounds to the recently suspended eight months industrial strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Speaking at the ceremony, the VC said: ” l welcome you all to our great University. We are matriculating 7433 new students across 11 faculties. During the last matriculation ceremony, we celebrated the official take off of three new faculties, namely, Pharmacy, Basic Medical Sciences and Environmental Management and Design . I am glad that these faculties have been up and doing. In the next three months or so, we will admit students for medicine in our great University.

“FUOYE is living up to the responsibility of fulfilling its mandate. Little wonder that in the last jamb, FUOYE ranked as the sixth most subscribed Universities in Nigeria,” he said.

While acknowledging the contribution of the Governing Council, deans and Directors, the University management and the teaching and non teaching staff members towards the laudable.achievements under his administration, he assured that the University would continue to achieve the best in all ramifications.

His words: “Our Target is to consolidate on this momentum and never rest on our oars until FUOYE is ranked as one of the leading universities across the world. We are already in nine communities in Ekiti and bringing development into the state. This means we are fulfilling our mandate of community services, teaching and research.

“These new faculties are up and doing, by this time next year, our medicine students will be part of this ceremony. Our varsity is on the right path fulfilling its duties. The University now ranked as the sixth most subscribed University out of 216 Universities in Nigeria.
Over 53,000 candidates are applying to FUOYE on yearly basis.
We assure you that solid academic foundational training is at the heart of this University.

” As we embark on this pursuit for knowledge, not for it’s sake, but for the advancement of the human race. l urge you all to seek this veritable platform to actualize your potentials and become national and international assets.

“Our calendar is loaded and congested with two streams running concurrently. We aspire to cover lost grounds without sacrificing academic excellency. This is in response to the realities on ground die to the right months list to ASUU strike. I urge you to cooperate with us and give no room for redundancy,” he said.
