The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has approved a five-man Credentials Committee to conduct the 2026 Ekiti State Council Delegate Conference election.
The national body expressed confidence in the committee, led by Yaqoub Popoola of Daily Independent Newspapers, to deliver a credible and transparent election.
The approval followed the endorsement of the five nominees by the Ekiti State Council Congress.
The approval was contained in a letter dated October 30, 2026, and signed by the National Secretary of the Union, Achike Chude, addressed to the Chairman and Secretary of the Ekiti State Council.
The letter, titled “Approval of Nominated Credentials Committee for Ekiti NUJ Election,” stated that the national body had endorsed the council’s choice to oversee the Credentials Committee during the delegates’ conference.
Other members of the committee are Olaniyi Alade of Radio Nigeria Progress FM, Toyin Omolewa of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, Emmanuel Nwosoro of the Online Chapel and Banke Fajuyi of MIDAS Radio.
The National Secretariat said it was encouraged by the confidence reposed in the committee members by the state council and expressed optimism that they would discharge their responsibilities effectively.
“We wish your council and the committee success,” the letter added.
