OYEBANJI SEEKS ASSEMBLY APPROVAL FOR THREE COMMISSIONERS, 10 SPECIAL ADVISERS

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has written to the State House of Assembly, seeking the screening and confirmation of three commissioners who served in his first-term administration.

The request came barely 10 days after the Governor was inaugurated for a second term in office.

Governor Oyebanji also sought the approval of the Assembly for the appointment of 10 Special Advisers to assist in the day-to-day administration of the state.

In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, the Governor requested the screening and confirmation of Mr Dayo Apata, SAN, as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Mr Akintunde Oyebode as Commissioner for Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani as Commissioner for Health and Human Services.

The proposed appointments are expected to facilitate the early constitution of key components of the second-term administration and ensure continuity in critical sectors of governance.

The Governor described the Justice, Finance and Health portfolios as crucial to the effective implementation of the administration’s programmes and policies, particularly in view of prevailing developments in the country.

The request for the confirmation of the nominees comes as the administration begins its second term, with emphasis on sustaining ongoing programmes and strengthening service delivery across Ekiti State.

It will be recalled that Governor Oyebanji last week approved the appointment of technical advisers in the areas of power, road infrastructure, airport development and transportation.

The letter was signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, and dated October 27, 2026.
