TUC CONGRATULATES GOVERNOR OYEBANJI ON RE-ELECTION VICTORY, URGES GREATER COMMITMENT TO WORKERS’ WELFARE

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, Ekiti State Council, has congratulated His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji Governor of Ekiti on his victory in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear reflection of the people’s confidence in his administration.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, the State Chairperson of the TUC, Comr. Dr. Omotola Farotimi, said the governor’s re-election was a reward for his unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare and the remarkable developmental strides recorded across the state during his first term.

“Governor Oyebanji’s worker-friendly policies, inclusive style of governance and dedication to the overall development of Ekiti State earned him the overwhelming support of the electorate,” Comr Dr. Farotimi stated.

She commended His Excellency for maintaining cordial relations with organised labour and for implementing policies that have positively impacted the lives of workers and residents of the state.

While congratulating His Excellency, the TUC Chairperson urges the Workers’ Friendly Governor to sustain the momentum by doing even more in his second term, especially in the areas of:

  1. Workers’ welfare – prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and entitlements
  2. Infrastructure development
  3. Improved service delivery across MDAs
  4. Training and retraining of workers and a lot more but to mention a few.

Consequently, the TUC Chairperson commended the State Workers for their support during the election. It was really overwhelming the way and manner they all went out to vote for the Worker Friendly Governor for the second term. This is quite impressive and its very interesting that the State Workers rallied round and ensure that Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji emerges through their vote at the poll for the second term. This is the first of its kind that a sitting Governor will break the Jinx, the back-to-back Governor in our dear State, the State that prides itself as the “Land of Honour, Ile-Iyi, Ile-Eye of the Nation.

Comr. Dr. Farotimi expressed confidence that Governor Oyebanji would build on the achievements of his first tenure and deliver greater dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.

She reaffirmed the readiness of the Trade Union Congress to continue partnering with the state government in promoting industrial harmony and supporting policies that will enhance workers’ welfare and accelerate the state’s development.
