NMA Ekiti Felicitates Governor Oyebanji on Re-Election

…seeks continued investment in health sector

The Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Ekiti State has rejoiced with Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his re-election during the just-concluded governorship election where he won by wide margin.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti, the NMA Chairman, Dr. Ifedayo Oreyemi rejoiced with the governor and prayed God to give him the wisdom and enablements to record more achievements and consolidate on the gains of the first term.

The NMA Chairman identified the governor’s investment in health, infrastructure, education as well as improved priority for workers welfare as major factors responsible for his victory at the poll urging him to sustain such traits.
Dr. Oreyemi said the association was particularly impressed by the administration’s renewed focus on the health sector during its first term.

According to him, Oyebanji prioritized the upgrade of primary health centres, recruitment of medical personnel, and improved supply of drugs and equipment across state-owned facilities.

“Healthcare delivery in Ekiti has witnessed remarkable improvement under this administration. The government’s consistent investment in facilities, motivation of health workers, and prompt payment of salaries have restored confidence in our public health system,” the NMA chairman stated.

He added that the revitalization of General Hospitals and the ongoing equipping of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital have reduced medical tourism and improved access to specialist care for residents.

Beyond health, the NMA noted that visible infrastructure projects and renewed attention to education created a broader sense of progress that resonated with voters.

The union said the combination of better roads, upgraded schools, and a functional health system formed the tripod that carried the governor to a second term.

The Chairman congratulated the governor and pledged the medical community’s continued partnership to deepen reforms in the health sector.

It urged the administration to sustain the recruitment drive, improve doctors’ welfare, and expand health insurance coverage to reach more vulnerable Ekiti residents.
