The African Democratic Congress, ADC, governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Ambassador Dare Bejide, has felicitated the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
In a statement released on Wednesday from Ado-Ekiti, Ambassador Bejide described the festival as a time for reflection, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to peace and unity. He urged Muslims to use the period to pray for the progress and stability of Ekiti State and Nigeria at large.
The former Nigerian Ambassador to Canada said the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir, rooted in obedience, sacrifice, and compassion, remain relevant in addressing the country’s current social and economic challenges. He called on citizens to show love to one another regardless of religious or political differences.
Bejide noted that Ekiti State requires collective effort from all stakeholders to overcome challenges of insecurity, unemployment, and infrastructural deficits.
He said political leaders must prioritize the welfare of the people above partisan interests.
He also commended the Muslim community in Ekiti for its peaceful coexistence with adherents of other faiths, describing it as a model for national unity.
He encouraged religious leaders to continue preaching messages that promote tolerance and harmony.
The ADC candidate assured the people of Ekiti that his administration, if elected, would run an inclusive government that respects religious diversity and ensures equitable development across the state.
He pledged to work with traditional rulers, religious bodies, and civil society to foster peace and development.
Bejide concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and blessed Sallah celebration, praying that Almighty Allah accepts their sacrifices and grants Nigeria lasting peace and prosperity.
