Ikogosi-Ekiti, hometown of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, has declared strong support for his re-election bid with a ₦25 million campaign package and a planned grassroots mobilisation drive.
The support was unveiled during a community engagement held at the Governor’s residence in Ikogosi. The Ikogosi Progressives Union, IPU, donated ₦20 million alongside 200 branded shirts and face caps, while the Oyebanji Age Group, Egbe Ayonimofe, contributed ₦5 million.
IPU President, Mr. Agbaje Olusola, described the donation as a political endorsement of the Governor, citing his achievements in infrastructure, social investment, and inclusive governance. He called Oyebanji “Ikogosi’s pride and a proven performer.”
Egbe Ayonimofe President, Deacon Ojo Ogunsesin, reaffirmed confidence in the Governor’s leadership, noting that Oyebanji regularly participates in the group’s monthly contributions and hosts their meetings. He said the Governor’s accessibility has strengthened unity and trust in his administration.
Both groups announced plans for high-energy rallies across Ikogosi and neighboring communities to deepen grassroots mobilisation. A major community rally is scheduled for May 2, 2026, with the Governor and his campaign council formally invited. The event will also focus on voter education and party identification ahead of the polls.
Chief Alaba Abejide, speaking for the campaign council, called the contributions “a resounding vote of confidence” in Oyebanji’s leadership. He commended the donors for their loyalty and support.
An emotional Governor Oyebanji thanked the groups, calling the gesture “a heartfelt demonstration of loyalty, love, and shared ownership” of his administration. “I will not take this trust for granted,” he said, pledging to deepen development efforts across Ekiti State.
Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Director of Media and Communications for the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Council, said the donation reflects the Governor’s sustained grassroots acceptance. He added that support in communities like Ikogosi continues to grow due to visible impact and trust in Oyebanji’s leadership.
