A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Victor Femi Ekunyan, has unveiled a comprehensive 7-point agenda tagged “Rescue, Restore and Greatness” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ekunyan, who made his policy blueprint public in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, said the agenda is designed to tackle Nigeria’s pressing socio-economic and security challenges through aggressive investments in agriculture, health, education, infrastructure, job creation, security, and foreign policy.
He described the document as a “contract with Nigerians” to deliver measurable change within his first term.
On agriculture and food security, the aspirant proposed the creation of 20,000 farmland locations across all communities, with each site spanning about 10,000 square kilometres. According to him, every location would have dedicated storage facilities, production and packaging units to cut post-harvest losses and guarantee low, affordable prices for goods and farm produce nationwide.
His health plan promises free medical care and medications in all public hospitals and clinics. Ekunyan pledged to double the current number of healthcare professionals, build new hospitals and accessible clinics in every community, and invest heavily in modern medical and laboratory equipment. He also promised improved welfare and living standards for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.
For education, the PDP aspirant is offering free tuition at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels. The plan includes upgrading existing schools, building new ones, and equipping classrooms with computers.
He also proposed improved welfare for teachers, lecturers, and support staff, alongside the introduction of unified cultural outfit uniforms for primary and secondary schools by 2029.
The teaching of Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo will be made mandatory across schools to promote national unity.
On infrastructure, Ekunyan outlined plans for an inter-state network of rail lines and new roads linking rail terminals to ease movement of goods and people.
His proposal covers expansion of telecommunications with high-speed internet access, stabilization of uninterrupted electricity through solar and nuclear power investments, and development of aviation, waterways, ports, and mineral resources.
The economy and employment pillar of the agenda targets the creation of 30 million jobs across all sectors, anchored on infrastructure that powers industries and local manufacturing.
Ekunyan said his administration would double the present minimum wage and prioritize production-driven growth to reduce import dependence and stabilize the naira.
Under defence and security, the aspirant declared a “war against corruption” and promised a thorough allocation and public spending review.
He plans to recruit three million additional security personnel, invest in weapons manufacturing and technology, and improve welfare for the armed forces and police.
The agenda also includes purification and strengthening of the judiciary, strict enforcement of law and order, and tighter border protection.
His foreign policy thrust is built on national interest and protection of sovereignty, with emphasis on diplomacy, bilateral and multilateral trade, and strategic negotiations to reposition Nigeria in global affairs.
Ekunyan said the 7-point agenda was developed after extensive consultations with experts, grassroots stakeholders, and development partners.
He called on PDP delegates and Nigerians to support what he termed “a realistic pathway to rescue the country, restore its dignity, and return it to greatness,” adding that implementation timelines and funding frameworks would be released in subsequent policy briefings.
