Excitement as EKICCIMA Becomes First Nigerian Chamber to Join African-Asian Rural Development Organization

…as EKICCIMA President says AARDO membership will open new doors

The Ekiti Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (EKICCIMA) has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first chamber of commerce in Nigeria to be accepted as an affiliate member of the African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO).

This prestigious membership, approved in January 2025, marks a significant step for EKICCIMA in strengthening its global partnerships and fostering rural economic development.

AARDO, an international intergovernmental organization that promotes sustainable rural development across Africa and Asia, provides a platform for knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and investment opportunities.

Also, EKICCIMA’s membership will position Ekiti State and Nigeria at large to benefit from AARDO’s vast network of expertise, funding, and agricultural innovation.

Speaking on this milestone, Olufemi Hassan, President of EKICCIMA, expressed gratitude for the approval, noting that it aligns with the Chamber’s mission to drive economic growth, empower rural communities, and attract global investment.

“This is a great achievement not only for EKICCIMA but for Nigeria as a whole. Our membership in AARDO will open new doors for agricultural and rural development initiatives, allowing us to leverage international best practices and funding opportunities for our members and stakeholders.”

He further emphasized EKICCIMA’s commitment to utilizing this membership to advance agribusiness, rural industrialization, and entrepreneurship in Ekiti State and beyond.

“The historic affiliation reinforces EKICCIMA’s leadership in championing rural development and international collaboration. It is expected that other chambers and business organizations in Nigeria will follow suit, leveraging similar opportunities to enhance economic prosperity.

“With this development, EKICCIMA has set a new benchmark in Nigeria’s business and economic landscape, signaling a brighter future for rural enterprises and sustainable development in the country.”
