Presiding over the prayer, Evangelist Michael Ojo of the Anglican Communion, Ekiti Diocese, urged labour leaders to commit to the service of members and serve God diligently.

He called on the government to continue to give priority to the welfare of workers, whom he described as key to the development of any government.

In his remark, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters, Hon Kayode Fatominiyi, congratulated the labour leaders for witnessing a new year and appreciated them for their support for the government of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Fatominiyi promised that the government would continue to introduce programmes and policies that would enhance the wellbeing of workers.

In a remark, the National President, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Comrade Sola Adigun, called on labour leaders to remain resolute in the fight for the welfare of their members.

He confirmed that Governor Oyebanji had done very well for workers, especially in 2025, urging workers to give their best in the discharge of their duties to reciprocate the gesture of the Governor.

Earlier, the Chairperson of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Dr. Omotola Farotimi, rejoiced with members for the grace of God to sustain their lives to witness the new year. She called on members to continue to support the leadership of the Union with a promise to serve them diligently.

She encouraged members to use the opportunity of the ongoing INEC registration to collect their voters’ cards ahead of the upcoming Governorship election in Ekiti State in June.

The TUC Chairman also warned against vote trading and other activities that could affect the credibility of the poll.
