

…restates commitment to purposeful, selfless leadership
The Trade Union Congress, TUC in Ekiti State has congratulated Christians and Nigerians at large on the celebration of Christmas, describing the season as a significant reminder of the birth of Jesus Christ and the values it represents.
In a goodwill message signed by the State Chairperson of the union, Comrade Dr Omotola Farotimi, the TUC extended warm greetings to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, members of the State Executive Council, and all TUC members across the 16 local government areas and local council development areas of the state for witnessing the festive season in good health.
Dr Farotimi noted that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolises freedom, humility, sacrifice and love, stressing that these virtues are essential for building a peaceful and progressive society.

According to her, “Christmas reminds us of the need to show love to one another, to be humble in leadership and service, and to promote freedom and justice in our communities.”
The TUC Chairperson further called on leaders at all levels of governance to internalise the lessons associated with the birth of Christ and allow them to guide their decisions and actions, with a promise on her part to continue to serve diligently
She said, “If leaders embrace the principles of selflessness, compassion and accountability that Christ exemplified, our society will be better governed and more people-oriented.”
Dr Farotimi also urged residents of the state to celebrate the season responsibly, advising against excesses.
She encouraged well-meaning Nigerians to remember the less privileged during the festivities, noting that “the true meaning of Christmas is best expressed through acts of kindness, generosity and support for the vulnerable.”
She wished workers and the people of Ekiti State a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year in advance, while praying for continued unity, stability and socio-economic development in the state and the country at large.
