…says Christ’s followers must promote just society.
The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye has advised Christian faithful to always eschew acts that could make life unpleasant for those around them, urging them to replicate the laudable examples of Christ.
In a press statement issued to commemorate this year’s Christmas celebration, Aribasoye called on Christians, and Ekiti people in general, to refrain from behaviors that could make the Ekiti community inhospitable to both residents and visitors.
“Jesus Christ came to show us the right way and to guide us toward the most righteous and acceptable path in life. His birth and life should inspire Christians to push for a just, orderly, kind, and godly society. As Ekiti people, and as Nigerians, we must always see ourselves as agents of change, transformation, and correction,” Aribasoye stated.
He also extended heartfelt congratulations to all Christians in Ekiti State for witnessing another Christmas, despite the numerous national and global challenges noting that this season should be a reminder of Christ’s humble birth, which exemplified humility, simplicity, service, and sacrifice.
“Joy is a key theme associated with the birth of Christ. His arrival was celebrated by angels, and it is through His birth that we are saved from sin, pain, and wrongdoing,” he said.
Rt. Hon. Aribasoye noted that Jesus was born to purge mortals of sin and corruption, asking believers to, in the same manner, resist corruption and insist on high moral standards wherever they may be, as this would help in making the world a better place.
The Speaker also urged Ekiti people to embrace their roles as promoters of values, virtues, and the ‘Omoluabi’ identity for which the state is renowned.
Reflecting on Christ’s own words, “I came to fulfill the law,” Aribasoye underlined the importance of a lawmaking body that is deeply committed to enacting laws that protect the interests of the people and enhance their rights.
“The laws of Christ are designed to protect believers from the influence of evil and to make the world a more just and harmonious place. It is therefore encouraging that the current Ekiti State House of Assembly is actively focused on passing laws that benefit the people,” he added.
The assembly Speaker prayed that the season shall give birth to joy, salvation, solution and transformation for all Christians, and that Ekiti state would be richly blessed through the season with the joy of Christ reflecting in government, homes and every life.
He beseeched Christians to equally remember to pray for the state and its leaders while also drumming support for the shared prosperity agenda of the current administration.
