…trains education officers, others on Code of Conduct

Ekiti State Government has trained education officers, teaching and non teaching staff in Ikere Local Government Area of the State on the use of Code of Conduct (CoC) to enhance safe space for efficiency and service delivery in the education sector.
The One-day training organized by the Ekiti State Ministry of Education through the World Bank project; Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project took place in African Comprehensive Grammar School, Ikere Ekiti on Monday.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen, the Tutor General, Ekiti South Senatorial District, Femi Ogungbamigbe disclosed that the training was aimed at providing the participants with the code of conduct to enable an efficient and safe learning and teaching in the schools.
Mr. Ogungbamigbe emphasized the importance of a safe space as it will enhance smooth learning and teaching as well as efficiency.
He said:”The expected goals is to enable our teachers to know the code of conduct, that is, the expected and accepted mode of behavior in our various schools. Also, to enable our teachers know how to maintain and sustain a safe space in our environment.”
“Safe space in our schools is very important because when the environment is safe, teaching and learning will go on smoothly.”
Mr. Ogungbamigbe further appreciated the state government for their effort through the AGILE project and other programs towards ensuring a space learning and teaching environment.
On her part, the AGILE Consultant for the Development and production of Ekiti State Code of Conduct for Education Officers, Teaching and Non-Teaching staff, Dr. Comfort Yemisi Afolabi disclosed that the CoC will serve as a guide for the key stakeholders to properly execute their task and create an accessible and comfortable learning space for students.
In her words,”It will enhance teachers performance,the performance of non-teaching staff and also the performance of administrators in both government colleges, secondary schools, primary schools and private schools.”
“It will enhance good and high service delivery.”
Moreso, the Gender Officer, Ministry of Education and AGILE project, Akindele Olaitan also stated that in addition to ensuring a safe space for teaching and learning in the educational sector, the CoC will keep the key stakeholders abreast with their rights and responsibilities which will aid the advancement of a smooth learning environment.
Some of the trainees appreciated the effort of the AGILE project towards providing a body to fight for the right of students and also enlightening the teaching and non-teaching staff on their duties in ensuring a safe learning environment in the schools.
