The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo has said that the union will mobilize Nigerians to vote from a well informed perspective during  the 2023 presidential election.

According to Isiguzo, the 2023 election is a very critical time that requires  Nigerians to act wisely without political, religious and ethnic sentiments.

The President who spoke during the 2022 press week of the Lagos Council of NUJ held at the Combo Hall, Ikeja Lagos State, noted that NUJ would put up programmes that would enable Nigerians assess all contestants and identified the best one for the herculean job of making the country work better.

He said: “Nigeria is about to have a new set of leaders to take over from the incumbent in 2023, this is indeed a critical time in our country.

“For Nigerians to make informed decision, the media industry must rise to the occasion because we have been saddled with the function to inform and educate the people and as well hold government accountable.

“We will not shy away from this responsibility that the constitution has reposed in us as the forth estate of the realm.

“If we are to make Nigeria work, our decision must be based on merit without any political, religious sentiments.

The president commended Lagos Council for the befitting press week which accommodated members and gave them sense of belonging.

“I am so pleased to be part of this annual ritual, we devote a time like this annually to look at our activities and make necessary adjustments for better services to the people.

Today, Lagos Council has put up another outstanding performance and one unique thing about Lagos Press week is how journalists have always been part of the celebration.
